There is something happening at CMSA! Like so many other businesses and organizations in 2020, CMSA is adapting and posturing to meet the challenges of a new decade. We are determined to transform any challenges to new opportunities for our members and the case management profession at large. So, what is happening at CMSA?
CMSA has a new Association Management Company (AMC), Parthenon Management Group (PMG). PMG is a premier AMC, that manages over 20 healthcare-related and scientific research-based associations. PMG has a diverse group of professionals who possess the specific skills, experience and innovative technology to re-invent CMSA for this current and post-pandemic future, an evolving profession, emerging trends in member value and impactful leadership in public policy.
The 2020-2022 National Board analyzed CMSA's current state and evaluated the strengths, gaps and opportunities necessary to sustain our position as the premier member association for case managers of all disciplines. The evaluation highlighted a clear path forward but would require change and transition.
William Bridges wrote about managing transitions in the mid-2000s, but it remains relevant today. He described change as something that happens to people, even if they do not agree with it. Conversely, transition is internal; it is what happens in people's minds as they go through the change. Change can happen quickly, while transition occurs slowly. I can attest that the change in management companies has occurred quickly for our members, but is already successful in achieving the business posture we need for a strong future. The transition is ongoing and will be part of CMSA's psyche for the near future, but the excitement surrounding the new opportunities is hard to contain.
Going forward, expect to see new partnerships with academia, journalism, and other professionals who support the care of patients along the continuum of care. Get ready to access new educational content in an easy manner and in a way that enhances the learning process. Imagine the possibilities of using technology and media platforms to engage with chapters, colleagues, and resources. Prepare for opportunities to advance your careers through publishing, thought leadership, modelling and research. Celebrate in knowing that your association, CMSA, will be the solution generator for novice and experienced case managers who are at the center of life-altering care management for patients and their families. CMSA is set to lead the evolution of the case management profession and drive industry trends into the next decade.
Sincerely,
Melanie Prince, RN, MSN, RN-BC, CCM
