This holiday season, all of us at the Case Management Foundation are thankful for you, the CMSA community. Your support has made it possible for CMF to provide programs that nurture the next generation of case managers, such as the recent Integrated Case Management Sponsorship. So far, the program has sponsored three case managers who are attending the Sections I and II of the ICM training.
In the coming year, CMF would like to grow the sponsorship program to help even more case managers advance in their career goals. Visit CMF online to learn more about CMF's initiatives to support the case management community and to donate. Have a great holiday season!

Medicaid Programs are in the spotlight as the United States moves forward with a myriad of health care reform initiatives. As a result, health plans and providers will need to utilize care management software and related health information technology (IT) systems to support the care coordination needs of underinsured and uninsured Americans.
With millions of individuals already receiving insurance coverage through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and 10 million-plus expected to join in the next few years, Medicaid is set to become an even bigger part of the case management industry, and in a broader sense, the health care delivery system.

In a move that advances the Obama administration’s work to make the health care system more transparent and accountable—and to help meet the pressing challenge of health care delivery system reform—the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on Nov. 12 announced the launch of the CMS Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC) at the White House event Data to Knowledge to Action: Building New Partnerships. Part of the President’s Big Data Research and Development Initiative, which aims to improve researchers’ ability to extract knowledge and insights from large and complex collections of digital data, the VRDC is a secure and efficient means for researchers to virtually access and analyze CMS’s vast store of health care data.
