CMSA Leaders' Mixer Auction
CMF will be holding a silent auction at the CMSA Chapter Leaders' Mixer on the first night of the conference, Monday, June 16. There will be fantastic prizes for chapters as well as for individuals to bid on, so be sure to coordinate a bidding amount with your local chapter and keep yourself in mind as well! Does your chapter like to show off their local pride? CMF is also inviting chapters to donate items for the auction. Items could include ideas such as "gift baskets" that might share unique treats from your area or area of expertise! Please contact support@supportcmf.org for questions or to submit a donation idea!

If you attended CMSA's 2013 conference but missed some of the sessions, or you weren’t able to attend the conference , you can "attend" now — any time that is convenient for you! CMSA members and non-members alike may attend sessions with CMSA's Extended Conference courses.

Over the years, many health information technology (HIT) implementations could be considered successful by achieving key business and clinical benchmarks. But one metric often overlooked is user satisfaction. When implementing care management software (CMS), electronic medical record (EMR), or a similar HIT system, tracking and understanding user satisfaction is extremely important. Although a CMS or EMR system may meet the business specs, the user satisfaction levels can speak volumes as to how the application is really working. For example, many of us, as patients, have heard our physicians complain about how difficult it is to enter information during a medical exam into their EMR system. Case managers also complain about their CMS taking too much time to document or being too complicated.

Reforms to Medicare regulations identified as unnecessary, obsolete, or excessively burdensome on hospitals and other health care providers will save nearly $660 million annually, and $3.2 billion over five years, through a rule issued today by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid services (CMS).

This week, our nation honors emergency medical service (EMS) professionals for their dedication to public service.
Over the past century, the field of emergency medical services has grown from hospital interns who rode in horse-drawn carriages transporting the sick and injured in a few cities during the 1800s. Today our nation draws on diverse network of nearly a million EMS physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, dispatchers, and support staff in every community. With each passing year, EMS has demonstrated increasing importance in our nation’s health care system.
