I think everyone can probably agree that 2020 has been one of the worst years – EVER! However, there is hope on the horizon – We have vaccines now that are showing efficacy rates of over 90%!
It was unthinkable that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic could catch us so off-guard that we would experience 15,932,116 cases and 296,818 deaths (12/12/20) in the U.S. since the first case was identified on January 21, 2020, just 11 months ago. And unfortunately, the number of cases and deaths are predicted to continue to rise for the next month or two, before starting to trend downward.
While these statistics are horrifying and represent a loss of almost 300,000 loved ones, this article is not going to focus on the negative aspects of the pandemic. I would like to focus more on the positive things that are happening: new vaccines, treatments, and medications, a plan for dealing with getting through the next few months, and a projection of optimism and hope for 2021.
