You will still receive monthly updates on CMSA and case management, including educational opportunities, recognitions, and timely news. But with a new name to remind you that our members are the heart of CMSA and that we will keep you current on the pulse of case management.

National Case Management Week is October 9-15, 2022. It’s a time to celebrate YOU, and honor and reward case managers for setting the standard for patient-centered care for our communities across the country. CMSA celebrates case managers all year long but can’t wait to have a designated week to show our appreciation!

She is a registered dietitian and an expert in nutrition education, program development, and product brand management. WINNER OF THE 2022 AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR PUBLIC POLICY & ADVOCACY: CMSA DETROIT

In 2021, CMSA Detroit focused on a vital issue in Michigan: Auto No-Fault (ANF) insurance reform. The 1973 Michigan ANF law guaranteed lifelong medical and rehabilitative care after catastrophic auto accidents. Efforts to change the law arose from legislators, the insurance industry and public concern about cost. Despite strong opposition by advocacy and professional groups due to dire consequences for stakeholders, the governor signed Public Acts 21 and 22 of 2019 into law. Certain impactful financial components of the law were to begin on July 1, 2021.

When the lack of case manager awareness became apparent, CMSA Detroit acted (1) to assure the education of case managers on consequences of the law to the profession and stakeholders and (2) to educate and advocate with legislators for legislative change to prevent serious consequences for catastrophic injury survivors, case managers and health care providers. Congratulations, CMSA Detroit!

WINNER OF THE 2022 AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR CHAPTER REVITALIZATION: HOUSTON/GULF COAST CHAPTER OF THE CMSA

The Chapter Revitalization Award, also known as The Phoenix, is awarded to the chapter that has accomplished the most significant turnaround, from decline to new life. Prior to the revitalization of Houston/Gulf Coast, membership had declined, board members had resigned, no education was being offered, conferences had to be cancelled, and there was no vendor participation.

Now, membership has doubled and they are growing and recruiting. They now have a sustainable board with members who have knowledge of technology. Marketing materials have been amplified with QR codes to take non-members directly to their website to join. Consistent monthly educational events with sponsorship by vendors have been implemented to provide benefits to members at the local level. Congratulations, CMSA Greater Houston-Gulf Coast Chapter!
