FEDERAL HOUSING AGENCY RESPONDS TO NPMA

Pest management companies that inspect Freddie Mac Real Estate Owned (REO) properties for termites may also perform repair damage work, according to a recent letter the Federal Housing Finance Authority sent to NPMA. The communication represents a reversal of sorts of longstanding Freddie Mac policy that precluded companies that inspected Freddie MacREO properties for wood destroying insects from performing any damage repair work. According to the letter, damage caused by termites and other wood destroying organisms can be repaired by a licensed and qualified pest management company but repairs to features of the structure that caused the infestation, such as the plumbing,roof and HVAC systems must be performed by a Freddie Mac approved general contractor or preservation and maintenance vendor. NPMA & CEPA WRITE WHO/FAO

NPMA and CEPA (Confederation of European Pest Management Associations) have partnered in writing a joint letter that was recently sent to WHO/FAO (World Health Organization & Food and Agriculture Organization) requesting participation in their joint meeting on pesticide management. We feel it is important that we be involved in any global development of an outline for guidelines on certification of pest control operators. For a copy of the letter, click HERE.

ADVANCED SERVICES SHAVES TO SAVE LIVES

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Advanced Services found a fun way to raise money to help find a cure for blood cancers. The company held a "Shave to Save" event on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Advanced Services Columbia Road location with proceeds going to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The Advanced Services employees stopped shaving for the past four weeks prior to the event in order to shave their beards and mustaches during the No Shave to Save event.

The Advanced Services team has already raised $10,000 for LLS with a goal of $15,000. Event organizer and Advanced Services’ Branch Manager, Kristi Kruger, explains, "The employees have had fun with this event. Advanced Services has a policy about facial hair, so the guys have to pay $30 per week to keep from shaving."

Advanced Services owner, Jeff Annis, and his 40-member team at Advanced Services Pest Control are dedicated to the fight against cancer. For the past 10 years, they have been supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by raising funds for cancer research and raising awareness for LLS in the greater Augusta, Georgia community.

PEST ED 2015 UPDATE

Our Annual PCOC Pest Ed event is scheduled for January 13 in Montebello and January 15 in Sacramento. Dr. Mike Rust will be our main morning speaker. He will be speaking about Cockroach Control.
