The Difference You Make!
Running a pest control business in California has more regulatory challenges than in any other state in our nation. Each year we see challenges in the regulatory and legislative world to accessing the products that we have come to rely on to provide quality pest control for our customers. Most of the well meaning people who want to make changes to our industry do not fully understand how critical these tools are to protecting public health. It's up to us to make the case for being able to continue to use these important products.
CAPMA staff and volunteers work diligently to engage DPR, the Structural Pest Control Board and the state legislators on almost a daily basis. There are some times when we need all of our voices to come together and this August has been one of those times. Assembly Bill 2552 seeks to ban the last two first generation anticoagulant active ingredients, warfarin and chlorophacinone. Although we have succeeded in having many of the worst parts of this bill removed, it now sits in the Senate Appropriations Committee to potentially move to the Senate floor for a vote. CAPMA has initiated a Voter Voice email campaign that allows you the chance to add your voice of opposition to this bad bill. With a few clicks you can send a prepackaged opposition letter directly to the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. With enough letters coming in we could influence the Chair to not let the bill move out of his committee.
Now is the time to take just a few minutes to add your individual voice to the protection of our industry. Please take a minute to make sure you have participated in our Voter Voice campaign. Take action now to defend your industry and together we can make THE difference.
