New Faces, New Opportunities: CAPMA and PAPCO Paving the Way in the Capitol

So far in 2024, PAPCO has given $72,500 spread across to 24 different legislators. We have attended at least one event for every legislator we’ve contributed to, and those interactions have allowed CAPMA to raise its profile in the Capitol to levels we have not yet seen.

In California we talk about policy pendulums moving in one direction or another on any given year. While the pendulum of influence has been firmly against the pest control industry for the past several years, we believe that PAPCO’s efforts have been instrumental in educating new (and old) legislators, and demonstrating that pest control professionals are ready to take on a larger role in statewide policy and rulemaking.

We hope to build on these efforts with a renewed focus in 2025.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025—
As mentioned above, the Legislature has sworn in a plethora of new members over the past two years, and next year will be no different. As a result, it is more important than ever that CAPMA continues to engage its legislators, get in front of them early and often and educate them on who we are, what we do, why our issues are important, and most notably, we must demonstrate the incredible impact to California businesses and communities should pest control operations continue to be jeopardized by disconcerting legislation.

2025 brings incredible opportunity for the association, and we look forward to continuing to fight for the pest control industry in California.
