Greetings to all of you!
It was good to see all of you who
attended the PCOC Board of Directors Meeting in Palm Springs. It was a busy couple of days and good to
touch base with everyone as we approach the new year. A couple a great additions to this Board of
Directors meeting was two continuous education opportunities that were well
attended, and a new committee focused on Professional Women in Pest Control, which produced a big turnout. Many thanks
to all those who were instrumental in organizing both events because they are
important additions to our Board meetings and continue to add value to what we
do. We also had a large attendance to
our legislative reception as well. While
we didn’t have the opportunity to hear from Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, due
to a traffic accident he was caught behind, we did have the good fortune of
having our legislative advocate, Dominic DiMare. He did a terrific job of
outlining the challenges facing PCOC in the future. By the way, Assemblymember Garcia actually
did make it to our reception and had an opportunity to talk with a lot of
people, so we appreciate his presence despite the traffic challenges. One takeaway that was very clear was we
want a large attendance for our legislative days on April 3-5 in Sacramento, so we look forward to seeing you all
there. Remember, your voices really
matter and you can tell your story better than anyone!

Click Here:Tell Congress to Pass Zika Funding Now!
Dear NPMA Members,
We are at the final hour, and Zika funds have run dry. The health of the public — in jeopardy.
Since Congress left for their summer vacation, Zika cases have doubled. We can't wait any longer. Now is the time to hold their feet to the fire. It's time to end the political games. It's time to deploy the world's largest and most sophisticated built-in pest defense network.
Tell Congress to come together and pass a bi-partisan Zika funding bill!Raise your voice with the 20,000 companies and 150,000 technicians that comprise the structural pest management industry. Together, let's tell Congress that we look forward to protecting public health, working closely with federal and state regulators, and assisting with the abatement of mosquitoes.
With a few quick clicks and sending the pre-written message to your elected officials, we can make the difference.

PCOC Member, Harold Horning, notified us that TIm Tallon, a former member and current Operator, was in a terrible car accident this past Thanksgiving while returning from his mother's in Oregon. His wife, Julie, who was also injured during the car accident, has started a GoFundMe page and writes,"Tim has 17 rib fractures out of 24 ribs and he has a fractured C-4 vibrate in his neck....He had to have surgery to help repair some of his ribs because his pain was uncontrollable, his surgery went well and is on an assisted breathing tube for now to give him some much needed relief on his lungs, his recovery once he's strong will consist of him needing to regain all of his strength." Julie has started this page to try and help with the costs that are associated with both of their injuries. If you are interested in helping out with the financial burden that Tim and Julie have and will expect to have, please visit https://www.gofundme.com/tim-and-julie.

Many of us who attended the Board of Directors meeting in Palm Springs heard Chris talk about Fire Sprinklers and the problems that may arise if there are unintentionally broken. Chris has written a very informative article that goes more in depth on the subject.
