Current News

In our work around the world, CSCMP and its Roundtables strive to promote equitable, open access to people networks and educational content that improve the world’s supply chains. Likewise, the CSCMP Talent Center enhances the capability of supply chain talent to deliver supply chain innovations and solutions that sustain quality of life. That work includes all aspects of supply chain sustainability; economic, ethical, and environmental progress.

CSCMP and its Ukraine Roundtable have established the CSCMP Talent Center Ukraine Logistics Operations Relief Fund in support of those pre-qualified service providers who deliver medical and food relief to the millions of people affected by the war in Ukraine. We stand with our CSCMP Roundtable community in Ukraine, our members, friends and colleagues and support their right to live peacefully in a sovereign, free country without the threat of coercion. Today, I am asking you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the CSCMP Talent Center Ukraine Logistics Operations Relief Fund enabling medical and food relief to the affected people of Ukraine. Your contribution is tax deductible and upon completion you will immediately receive a receipt right into your inbox.

Your contribution has CSCMP behind it. We will match the first $10,000 USD in donations, dollar for dollar, and will oversee the application of 100% of your contribution to the respective, pre-approved supply chain operations in Ukraine. Our efforts to support the relief effort will also be managed locally by the CSCMP Roundtable Leadership. We will keep our donors informed of progress and the difference your contributions make towards logistics operations that sustain human relief efforts.

I am personally committed to supporting the supply chain that enables the relief efforts in Ukraine. That is why I am pleased to let you know that I have personally contributed the first $1,000 to the relief effort. Please join me in supporting the logistics operations in Ukraine by donating any amount that you can here. On the donation page, option 4, select the Ukraine Logistics Operations Relief Fund.

Together, we will make a difference in supporting the logistics operations that deliver medical and food relief to the people of Ukraine.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our CSCMP community and the people of Ukraine.

It’s not news anymore that warehousing and logistics operations are struggling to attract, hire and retain associates. It was a difficult task pre-COVID-19 that’s become next to impossible in some regions of the country where multiple facilities are located in close proximity to each other.

To help these warehousing operations catch up—and catch their breath—there is a solution: contingency labor services. This approach deploys teams of experienced associates and managers who help stabilize an operation by supporting rapid growth temporary needs, or seasonal volume. Engaging a contingency team, such as those provided by FHI, to augment an existing workforce allows an operation’s management to refocus and address other issues.

Thank you to CSCMP Corporate Member Matt Lucey, VP of Contingency Services at FHI, for sharing this CSCMP Hot Topic.

The growth of eCommerce and supply chains has resulted in the need for more warehouses worldwide. Costs are rising, as well. This means operating efficient, productive warehouses and distribution centers is more important now than ever before. Asset tracking can help reduce costs, boost warehouse efficiency and improve productivity. Location-powered asset tracking can help optimize your warehouses and distribution centers. Some of the key uses are indoor tracking, asset utilization, and enhancing digital twins.

Thank you to CSCMP Corporate Member Erminio Di Paola, Vice President of Product Management at HERE Technologies, for sharing this CSCMP Hot Topic.

Atlanta Roundtable
"I joined CSCMP through AFS Logistics in August 2021. Our company is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and over the last 40 years, we have grown not just in our capabilities, but in the quality of talent we’ve assembled. And, if the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that working together as a team is what fosters success, not just internally, but externally with other experts and industry providers. For us to be of better service to our clients, it is important for myself and AFS to constantly grow our network, build relationships and share the knowledge of our team. CSCMP allows us to do that.

Network, network, network. Building relationships through other CSCMP members and learning from their experiences makes us all more knowledgeable and stronger in the long run. Last September, AFS hosted several attendees at the EDGE conference. Not just other providers, but shippers. Having one-on-one, in-person discussions with shippers outside of our current client base and hearing their stories and challenges was invaluable. Exchanging knowledge with other providers is one thing. Hearing directly from the shippers who have been impacted by the changes of the last two years in a completely unbiased setting is priceless. CSCMP afforded us that opportunity."

San Francisco Roundtable
"I joined CSCMP in June 2021. The biggest reason to join CSCMP was to find a community in Supply Chain and keep up with the advancements being made in the field. There is so much to learn within the boundaries of Supply Chain, and the very aspect of a central place to consume as much knowledge as possible led me to join CSCMP.

Leveraging the community is the key. The CSCMP community here is very strong, and it's really important to utilize the network and establish a solid foundation in the space.

Anyone who is new to CSCMP, I would definitely recommend expanding their knowledge in different areas in Supply Chain through academic resources. A personal favorite is the Case Study section, which has been very insightful for me.

Surprisingly, CSCMP membership has been a great channel for me to establish connections externally with people belonging to different verticals in Supply Chain. As someone currently in the manufacturing world of supply chain, I have been able to build strong connections with people within Demand planning and logistics space at my workplace, which has been possible through proactively learning about these areas, which in turn helped me in establishing the domain connect."

According to the March Logistics Manager’s Index Report®, the overall index is 76.2. This is the all-time high score in the history of this index, continuing a run of 14 consecutive months of readings over 70.0, a level considered a significant rate of expansion.

The average overall index reading through the first quarter of 2022 was 74.5, far outstripping the historical average level of 65. Primary factors behind this are the all-time high rates for growth for both Inventory and Warehousing Costs, which are in turn being driven up by unseasonably high Inventory Levels.
