On Tuesday, May 19, CanSIA and CanWEA jointly announced the new CEO to lead the Canadian Renewable Energy Association, Robert Hornung. As the founding president and CEO of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association, Mr. Hornung will lead the member-based association in stakeholder advocacy and public engagement focused on ensuring that renewable energy and energy storage play a central role in transforming Canada’s energy mix during this period of historical global transformation. For more information on the announcement and the new association, please read our press release.
Source: CTV News The Fisher River Cree First Nation Solar Farm is now generating electricity. The solar farm is the first Indigenous-owned, utility scale solar farm in Canada and will sell energy generated from its 3,000 panels to Manitoba Hydro for the next 30 days. “Every community should have some sort of solar roof top program. Every community should have its own greenhouse operation. It’s really about getting out of the old CMHC INAC designed communities and really decolonizing our communities through (de-centralization),” said David Isaac, president of W Dusk Energy Group Inc.
