Predictions of the biggest storm of the year for Southern California on Friday, February 17th couldn't keep Mrs. Vickie Campbell's 4th grade class from Sitting Bull Academy in Apple Valley from going outside and getting a first hand look how big rig trucks keep America moving. With the help of Mr Randy, Apex Logistics's 24-year veteran driver, students participated in a show and tell lesson.

The class, with 32 students, was awarded first place in CTA's 2017 annual poster contest with this year's theme being, "Truckers are Champions of Commerce."

Ron Whalen from the CTA Printing Co-op and Devon Ades from Apex Logistics, LLC of the San Bernardino/Riverside Unit presented a $500 check to the class at a school assembly coordinated by principal Phyllis Carnahan and vice principal Donnie Vick.

The assembly, attended by over 250 3rd and 4th grade students started with a fun interactive skit that taught the students, "If you got it, a truck brought it." Each student in Mrs. Campbell's class received two promotional rulers one from CTA headquarters and one from Apex Logistics. The winning students also each received a decorated brown paper lunch bag from the CTA Printing Co-op filled with goodies including a toy truck, school supplies like crayons, pencils and an eraser, plus some sweet treats as a just reward for their hard work and effort.

The radiant smiles on each of the 32 first place students seen in this event photograph is a reminder to all of us who are part of the CTA family that although we can't control the weather, we can control our attitudes and our daily efforts to keep California's transportation industry moving forward. Congratulations to Mrs. Campbell and her entire 4th grade class for a job well done.
