ELD Regulation and Intrastate Only Operators

REMINDER: CTA has received a few inquiries regarding the soon to be implemented Electronic Logging Device regulation and its applicability to intrastate only operators. The rule (currently) only applies to interstate operating carriers. Per Section 350.331 Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations, California has 3 years to adjust California statutes/regulations to be compatible with federal regulations. The final ELD rule was published in February of 2016, so California won’t have to have Title 13 updated until February 2019. However, we have heard that CHP have the rule implemented for intrastate only haulers prior to the February 2019 deadline. CTA will keep you updated on the progress of implementation.
