Looking to upgrade your trucks - interested in the cleanest tech - but need help to make the business case work? We want you to know about significant and simple-to-get funds available for you to do just that TODAY.

It's called HVIP (CaliforniaHVIP) - the short name for an innovative program to make it easy and streamlined to put the cleanest trucks on the road. The longer name is the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Bus and Truck Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) and Low-NOx Incentives. Managed by CALSTART and funded by the California Air Resources Board, this year HVIP has $188 million in funding for clean natural gas, hybrid and electric trucks and buses.

Voucher amounts can range from $40,000 for the incremental cost of an 11.9L Low-NOx natural-gas engine to $235,000 for a Class 8 Zero-Emission School Bus - with a big range of vehicle choices (and voucher amounts to match) in between.

HVIP accelerates the deployment of near zero and zero-emission trucks and buses by tackling the premier barrier: the initial price point. Voucher amounts are calculated to cover most or all of the incremental cost of advanced and ultra clean vehicles compared to conventional vehicles. HVIP provides even higher incentives for fleets located in or serving disadvantaged communities. HVIP has been around for 8 years and has so far helped deploy upwards of 3,300 medium- and heavy-duty vehicles in California since the program's inception - and demand is growing rapidly.

Sound like it could work for you? Information on vehicle and dealer eligibility, voucher amounts, and how it all works can all be found on the California HVIP website.

Contact Joey Vollmer (jvollmer@calstart.org) for any and all questions related to HVIP. We look forward to working with you all to get more clean vehicles on the road in 2018!
