Webinar on Sept 11: How Safe Fleets Can Improve Safety Scores

Small and medium-size truck fleets are often challenged when it comes to maintaining good safety scores. These scores can affect their ongoing operations and ability to bypass weigh stations with services like PrePass. Unique challenges facing these carriers include insufficient Inspection Selection System (ISS) data due to lower frequency of inspections, and greater impacts to their scores resulting from violations or crashes. In this webinar hosted by the California Trucking Association, Steve Vaughn, national director of field operations for HELP Inc, providers of PrePass, will discuss ways small and medium-size fleets can address these challenges.

 • Many smaller fleets do not have a single person devoted to safety and regulatory matters, so we will cover breaking news about changing regulations, and what to expect in the future.
 • Small fleets, by definition, do not have large numbers of trucks, and thereby do not rapidly accumulate mileage. That can mean they have insufficient ISS data and could be pulled in at weigh and truck inspection stations more often than larger fleets. We will discuss ways carriers can obtain "clean" truck inspections, build that database, and qualify for electronic bypass.
• Small fleets are disproportionately impacted by crashes because they do not have the mileage to dilute the inferred frequency of crashes in their crash BASIC calculation in the FMCSA's CSA program. We will explain how one remedy is the FMCSA Crash Preventability Demonstration Program. While it will not (yet) drop crashes from a carrier's record, it will display a re-calculated Safety Measurement System (SMS) score when a submitted crash has been determined non-preventable.

Attend this webinar to better understand the current regulatory environment and ways you can immediately improve your safety operation.
