K.K.W. Trucking participated in the B.R.A.K.E.S. Advanced Teen Driving classes on Saturday, 2/25 and Sunday, 2/26. We do a module on truck safety, getting up close and personal to a truck and trailer, letting the public sit in the driver’s seat, so they can experience the blind spots our drivers experience, or "See what we don’t see". We also have them go for a ride, as a passenger, so they can experience the dynamics of the truck and trailer, accelerating, deceleration, and turning left and right.
It is also a nice, comfortable setting, non-confrontational, for the public to ask us about trucking, and why drivers do what they do. It also gives us a chance to share the new technology, and compliance issues we also have to work with.
The drivers participating on Saturday were Eddie Ingram, Samuel McIntosh, Glinelle Morris, and Safety Department representative Casey Swim. Sunday’s driver was Walter Tyler, Jr. K.K.W. Trucking has been affiliated with this organization for over 3 years now.
