Common Sense Hours-of-Service Reform Bill Introduced
As some of you may have seen already, Reps. Rick Crawford (R-AR), Sanford Bishop (D-GA) and Bruce Westerman (R-AR) introduced the Honest Operators Undertake Road Safety Act (HOURS Act). This bipartisan legislation, would provide common sense hours-of-service relief and flexibility for professional truck drivers, while enhancing highway safety and supply chain efficiency. ATA provided technical support and worked closely, with the members who introduced it. We have been informed that ATA will now work to expand the bipartisan support for this bill, secure a Senate champion to introduce similar legislation and work with the Trump Administration to gain their support as well. ATA is anticipating that with the introduction of this bill, the discussion will now shift away from ELD’s and towards a more a flexible federal HOS rules. CTA will update its members as things progress.
