FMCSA Extends Waivers Through August 31
The
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the extension of the current Emergency Declaration including multiple waivers related to COVID-19 that was set to expire May 31st. The extended declaration becomes effective June 1st and expires August 31st, 2021.
The extension provides the same regulatory relief to commercial motor vehicle operations providing direct assistance in support of emergency relief efforts related to COVID-19 and is limited to the transportation of:
- Livestock and livestock feed.
- Medical supplies and equipment related to the testing, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.
- Vaccines, constituent products and medical supplies and equipment, including ancillary supplies/kits for the administration of vaccines, related to the prevention of COVID-19.
- Supplies and equipment necessary for community safety, sanitation, and prevention of community transmission of COVID-19 such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap and disinfectants.
- Food, paper products, and other groceries for emergency restocking of distribution centers or stores.
Additionally, FMCSA announced the expansion of the waivers related to 3rd Party Testing, Hours of Service, and CDL/CLP/Medical Exemption. We encourage you to review the applicability, restrictions, limitations of the waivers.
