On May 6th, CTA President Greg Dubuque testified in support of California Highway Patrol (CHP) Commissioner Amanda Ray in front of the Senate Rules Committee. During President Dubuque’s testimony he highlighted the long standing partnership between CHP and CTA and their collaboration on many safety related initiatives. This includes the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Summit that has been occurring since 2007 and is supported by the generous sponsorships from many CTA members. Additionally, President Dubuque expressed CTA’s appreciation for Commissioner Ray’s attendance as a keynote speaker at many CTA Driver of the Month and Fleet Safety Award Banquets. CTA looks forward to working with Commissioner Ray as she leads the CHP.

 

This year’s Operation Safe Driver Week will take place July 11-17 with an emphasis on speeding. Law enforcement personnel will be on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving behaviors. Identified unsafe drivers will be pulled over and issued a citation or warning. CVSA created a complimentary 2021 Operation Safe Driver Week postcard for drivers, motor carriers, trucking associations, etc. Fill out the online order form to order the postcards.
