It was recently brought to our attention that the City of Cerritos has adopted an ordinance that de-classifies two legal truck routes, Bloomfield and Shoemaker.
At Caltrans’ request, CTA will be participating in a meeting with Caltrans and Gateway Cities to discuss concerns associated with the City of Cerritos “unilateral” decision to adopt the ordinance.
If you have utilized these routes or are familiar with them we need your feedback on the type of impact this ordinance is having with your ability to conduct business.
As part of the National Day of Action to Raise Awareness and Advocate for the Prevention of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment on April 28, CTA has joined the America Trucking Associations and White House in reiterating the trucking indsutry's longstanding commitment to eliminating sexual harassment and sexual assault.
In addition to joining the Administration in recognizing and condemning sexual harassment, assault, and violence today and promoting a culture of safety for all drivers, CTA joins ATA in continuing to work to:
• Prevent violence against women through Truckers Against Trafficking. Over 1.3 million individuals have been trained through that program to recognize and report trafficking and support victims of trafficking.
• Promote comprehensive sexual harassment and zero-tolerance policies for sexual assault and violence in the industry.
• Support efforts to ensure industry employees are aware of policies on sexual assault, violence and harassment and appropriately trained, including but not limited to board members, management, human resources, drivers, apprentices, trainees, dispatchers and instructors.
• Facilitate training so that trainees, apprentices and drivers understand how to report instances of sexual assault and violence before they get into a vehicle, and the steps companies will take to investigate and hold perpetrators accountable, including multiple confidential reporting channels and clear plans and timelines to investigate and act upon complaints.
