Compliance and Regulatory News
CTA has received a few inquiries from some LTL member carriers regarding clarification on how HM securement laws are being enforced. In response to the inquiries and in an effort to provide members with the best information, CTA has reached out to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and has requested that a HM securement information session be presented to interested members.
Beginning January 1, 2017, employers with 10 or more employees will be required to electronically submit employment tax returns, wage reports, and payroll tax deposits to the Employment Development Department (EDD). All remaining employers will be subject to this requirement beginning January 1, 2018. Any employer required under existing law to electronically submit wage reports and/or electronic funds transfer to the EDD will remain subject to those requirements.

As an employer am I required to verify that the driver obtained his physical from a doctor on the DOT National Registry and note it in their driver's file? Yes, this can be done with a company form you developed or even noted on the physical form under the doctor's registry number, date and signature you verified. Marcia Woolworth, Executive Assistant Meet Marcia! Marcia has been a CTA staff member since September 2007. She maintains PAC information and works with CPA to make timely reports to the Government. Marcia also registers members and non-members for training seminars, handles expense reports, invoices and travel arrangements for the Executive staff which includes the CEO, the Vice President of Policy and Government Relations, the Director of Policy and Director of Legislative Affairs. What three traits define you? What is your personal philosophy?
Put people first, work hard, keep your word, and stop and smell the roses.

I enjoy doing voice over training and participating in a little theater.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Working with our trainer on preparing for seminars and being the Executive Assistant to so many hard working individuals.
