Compliance and Regulatory News
Every winter season creates challenges for our industry and the trucks that have to travel over California's high elevation mountain passes in order to make their deliveries. With the 2016-2017 winter months rapidly approaching, I'd like to call your attention to the Pusher Truck Program, one of the many CTA member benefits that makes a difference for hundreds of trucking companies each year as they pass the tough mountain climb on Interstate 80.

As you know, the winter storms that hit Northern California had a tremendous impact on California's roadways. One of the most heavily traveled corridors in the nation was not immune from the storms damage. Because of the storm, I-80 Donner Pass was closed for over 36 hours and then faced intermittent closures throughout the week. In an effort to provide CTA members with the most up to date I-80 Donner Pass road information members can receive updates as they occur by e-mailing Caltrans and asking to be on their information list. If you are interested in receiving updates email Laurie James at Laurie.james@dot.ca.gov and let her know you would like to receive the updates. For more information contact Eric Sauer at esauer@caltrux.org.
When driving towards the Cesar Chavez Street entrance to US 101, please avoid using residential side streets as cut-through routes whenever possible. Instead, please remain on designated truck routes such as Cesar Chavez and Mission streets whenever possible. Many of the residential side streets south of Cesar Chavez Street have steep grades and truck traffic is not advised. The City of San Francisco has received many complaints from residents who live on these affected streets and instead of going through a process of that may lead to further truck restrictions, they want to work with CTA and remind carriers that operate in the City of San Francisco to use the approved truck routes. For more information contact Eric Sauer at esauer@caltrux.org.
