An incident the other day prompts this reminder for motor carriers: the federal regulations on leasing require a motor carrier operating a vehicle owned by another entity to either carry a copy of the lease in the cab of the vehicle or in the alternative carry a statement that contains relevant information concerning the relationship between the two parties.

In the State Capitol February 17th serves as an important date, the bill introduction deadline. While legislation can emerge in various forms later on in the year, February 17th provides us with a good glimpse of what is to come in 2017.

The LA/Orange Unit kicked off 2017 with their first unit meeting at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Norwalk. There were 70 members and 4 prospective members in attendance.

The SB/Riverside Unit had their first unit meeting today at the Holiday Inn Ontario Airport. There were 85 members and prospective members in attendance.

The San Diego/Imperial Unit kicked off their first unit meeting in 2017 at Vallarta's restaurant in Otay Mesa. There were 35 members in attendance and a buffet breakfast was served.

The unit will have a lunch meeting today at Mission Produce in Oxnard. Topic is Electronic Logging Devices.

Each year we make available an application for our annual Fleet Safety Awards program. The purpose of the Fleet Safety program is to recognize companies that reduce accidents by designing and running a top notch safety program. Applications are then submitted back to us with the requested information.

Predictions of the biggest storm of the year for Southern California on Friday, February 17th couldn't keep Mrs. Vickie Campbell's 4th grade class from Sitting Bull Academy in Apple Valley from going outside and getting a first hand look how big rig trucks keep America moving. With the help of Mr Randy, Apex Logistics's 24-year veteran driver, students participated in a show and tell lesson.
