CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
SACRAMENTO -- Shawn Yadon, CEO of the California Trucking Association, issued the following statement today in response to the passage of SB1, the historic transportation funding package that will raise $52 billion over a 10-year period to fund crucial infrastructure projects:
Attention CTA Agricultural Carrier Conference Member, the California Highway Patrol has extended the agricultural commodities exemption from intrastate load securement rules for another year. The exemption has been extended to 4/30/2018 or upon the implementation of the regulatory requirements, which are currently being reviewed by FMCSA.
CTA’s ongoing effort to provide its members information regarding the implementation of the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) rule continued this week during the Safety, Security and Human Resources Policy Committee meeting that was held during the California Trucking Association’s Policy and Executive Committee meetings.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will be holding a public meeting next month for manufacturers of electronic logging device. The meeting will take place in Washington D.C. and will address questions from ELD manufacturers and help them to understand and create ELDs that are compliant with the FMCSA's mandate.
