Final Rule on Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food
The FDA Food Modernization Act (FSMA) rule on Sanitary Transportation came into compliance for applicable businesses on April 6, 2017 and will come into compliance for small businesses on April 6, 2018... The FDA is working on an online free training module that will provide carriers with the exact procedures and specifics of the rule.

Last year this event raised over $40,000 for Abused and At-Risk Children in Southern California, and we are looking forward to another successful year. The planning has begun and this event is for everyone to attend, scene motorcycle/ car/ truck "Poker Run",delicious BBQ lunch, fun activities for kids and families to enjoy all day and some amazing silent auction and raffle items as well. Thank you to all our sponsors and participants who helped make last year such a success and looking forward to working with everyone for this year’s event. 
President's Night - Save the date for Saturday June 3. President's Night will be at The Ingomar Club in Eureka from 6-9 pm. 
Save the Date - The 2017 Sacramento Golf Tournament will be held on Friday Sept. 8 at the Teal Bend Golf Club in Sacramento. More details to come.

The San Diego/Imperial SP members met on May 8 at Hyundai Translead. The members had a productive meeting discussing future meetings and events.

Volunteers Needed for Trucking Fun!
  
Support safety and come out to the 2017 Northern California Truck Driving Championships. We need your help as a judge....Allied and Carrier members alike! A team of judge volunteers helps score truck drivers during the competition. We use two field courses to speed up the competition so we need a minimum of 12 judges per course.
May 19 Hotel Deadline for Summer Meetings
  
The hotel registration deadline at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa is THIS FRIDAY, MAY 19. The Hyatt is the venue for CTA’s Board of Directors & Policy Committee Meetings, June 21 – 22, 2017. You do not need to be a member of the Board or Policy Committees to attend.
S.F. Municipal Transp. Agency Large Vehicle Working Group Meeting Tomorrow
The SFMTA’s Large Vehicle Working Group will be meeting May 17th at the SFMTA offices located at 1 South Van Ness Avenue. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30am. CTA has been a member of the Working Group since its inception and recommends anyone that makes deliveries in San Francisco become a member of the Large Vehicle Working Group.

The California Department of Transportation (District 2) will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly completed Corning Safety Roadside Rest Areas (Lt. John C. Helmick Safety Roadside Rest Area) on May 31, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the southbound rest area.

The electronic logging device (ELD) rule is intended to help create a safer work environment for drivers, and make it easier, faster to accurately track, manage, and share records of duty status (RODS) data.
