The next California Transportation Permit Advisory Council (CTPAC) meeting will be on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 12:00pm at CTA Headquarters in Sacramento. The purpose of the CTPAC is to provide a forum for government and industry viewpoints on State transportation permitting policies and procedures.
CTA is a member of the Small Business Employer Advisory Committee (SBEAC), which provides small business employers and the EDD’s Tax Branch the opportunity to better understand each other’s needs by addressing issues of mutual concern. As a member of SBEAC, CTA plays a role on behalf of the small business employer community and has provided feedback to the EDD’s Tax Branch on various tax policy and procedural initiatives.
Last week the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) held its quarterly Large Vehicle Safety Working Group meeting in San Francisco at the SFMTA headquarters. In addition to CTA, the working group includes many of San Francisco’s agencies as well as other special interest groups. Below is a summary of some of the items discussed.

The hotel registration deadline at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa has passed, but they still have a limited number left at our low group rate of $115. The Hyatt is the venue for CTA’s Board of Directors & Policy Committee Meetings, June 21 – 22, 2017.
Researchers at U.C. Berkeley & Volvo are currently conducting an on-the-road driving study on the topic of truck platooning. The study will be conducted on roads in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are currently looking for 3 participants for daytime testing and 12 for nighttime testing.
The Permanent Fleet Registration (PFR) program is a convenient way to maintain your fleet’s registration. CTA is looking for members with a PFR account that would like to use CTA’s exclusive member vehicle registration service to manage your account for you.

Chris Hantz, a driver for longtime CTA member, Antonini Freight Express, Inc. of Lathrop, Ca., is doing something very courageous and bold on May 30, 2017. Chris is donating a kidney to his father, Joe Casale. Joe, a resident of Mott, North Dakota has been fighting kidney disease for the past 3 years and on dialysis for the past 15 months.
