CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
In 2015 when CTA was made aware of the delays occurring at the DMV for one to take their CDL skills test, reaching 90 days in some areas of California, the Board directed staff to work with DMV and the Legislature to address the wait times.
Every winter season creates challenges for our industry and the trucks that have to travel over California's high elevation mountain passes in order to make their deliveries. With the 2017-2018 winter months upon us, I'd like to call your attention to the California Trucking Association’s (CTA) Pusher Truck Program, one of the many CTA member benefits that makes a difference for thousands of trucking companies each year as they pass the tough mountain climb on Interstate 80.
Ike Iketani, retired Assistant Chief and 32-year veteran of the CHP, will be speaking at the Northern and Southern Safety Councils on Driver Distraction: Technology, Employer Policies, and Risk Manager. Just a reminder that a city, county, or city and county are not allowed to impose business license taxes on for-hire Motor Carriers of Property Permit holders in the State of California. For over a quarter century, cities and counties have been prohibited from licensing and taxing business conducted by a for-hire carrier of property

Statewide Event Calendar

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we pass along word that CTA member D.M. "Dave" Simon passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. D.M. Simon was a Southern California native and lifelong resident, He peacefully passed away a few months short of 100 years of age. He was an owner-operator trucker, owner of Orange Belt Trucking and Pioneer Truck Finance, and founder of Pioneer Trailer Sales. He was inducted into CTA’s Golden Jubilee Club in 2013. D.M. went into trucking during the Great Depression largely because of his love of travel and he deeply valued his friendships in the industry.
