CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
Caltrans today announced that $2.7 billion in competitive grants funded through the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 (SB 1) were awarded to 64 projects throughout California to tackle congestion, support valuable trade corridors and bolster local agency efforts to invest in transportation. These three programs, the Solutions for Congested Corridors, Trade Corridor Enhancement and Local Partnership Programs are vital infrastructure improvement programs created by SB 1. In 2002, "Truckin’ for Hospice" was founded to enable the trucking industry to join together to raise money for Hospice of San Joaquin and Community Hospice, Inc. The event is a motorcycle poker run through the sierra foothills. We encourage those who don't ride a motorcycle to participate - drive your cool cars or trucks. CTA Highlights
The SB/Riverside unit held a breakfast meeting last week at The Holiday Inn in Ontario. CEO Shawn Yadon gave the members a quick overview on the Dynamex Court Decision. The ARB gave an update on The Truck and Bus Rule amendments and compliance dates.
The LA/Orange Unit held a lunch meeting last week at the Double Tree in Norwalk. The room was filled to capacity. CHP Officer Jason Lamborne educated the members on Federal and State Hours of Service and ELD enforcement.
The Kern Unit held their golf tournament on Friday, May 11 at The Links at RiverLakes Ranch in Bakersfield.
The Bay Area Unit held their annual law update where a panel of experts will provide their views on legal challenges. Matt Roman, CTA Director of Legislative Affairs, will be giving a legislative update and we will also have an update from officer Mark Fisher in the Golden Gate Division’s Commercial Industry Education Program (CIEP).
