CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
Just back from the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) annual Management Conference & Exhibition (MC&E), and it is more clear now than ever the involvement, participation and contributions from the trucking community in California. While California motor carriers have long comprised the largest contingent of the ATA’s motor carrier membership base, that doesn’t ‘necessarily’ translate into the most participation and engagement. But I’m here to tell you, California CTA members are not only being impactful within CTA, but at the national level as well.
This report will provide a brief sample of the many bills that CTA tracked and in some cases actively advocated on behalf of our membership in 2018. As we approach 2019 with a new administration and possibly tougher numbers in the Legislature, the involvement of CTA and its members will become even more important!
Compliance and Regulatory News
CTA is a member of the I'm Independent Coalition made up of nearly 100 businesses and associations that are working to save the independent contractor model and protect your business. Members of the coalition were recently featured in two articles that discuss the problems with the Dynamex Ruling.
