CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
A federal district judge found the ABC test preempted by the FAAAA. This is a great development for us and strengthens our path to victory on litigation. However, we still have a ways to go and we are urging members to financially support our litigation efforts today.
The California legislature reconvened on December 3rd and two bills have already been introduced on the Dynamex issue. Most importantly, Asssemblymember Lorena Gonzalez introduced Assembly Bill 5 to codify the ABC test into state law.
The developments noted above clearly illustrate the importance of the CTA’s Dynamex lawsuit.
We will not be able to defeat the Dynamex Decision without your help.

December 18, 2019 - 9:00 am - San Diego With six weeks to go before the start of a new year, the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) reminds drivers that several important changes take effect Jan. 1, 2019, at the region’s seven state-owned toll bridges. These include the first of the $1 toll increases approved last year through state Senate Bill 595 and by voters through Regional Measure 3 in June 2018. Effective January 1, 2019, an International Registration Plan (IRP) carrier may present either a paper or electronic IRP cab card. All participating IRP member jurisdictions are required to accept electronic images of IRP cab cards, if presented, as evidence of apportioned registration. IRP carriers will no longer be required to carry a paper IRP cab card.
FMCSA developed a new resource to help drivers using electronic logging devices (ELDs) to transfer their hours-of-service data to safety officials at roadside. Designed to be printed and stored under the vehicle's visor, this guide gives the driver a high-level overview of the various data transfer processes and includes tips on troubleshooting common questions that could arise during data transfer. The Inside Look Tour is a two-hour entertaining and educational adventure offering special behind-the-scenes views and interesting information about how they take care of the animals.
