CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
Last week, as expected, the Senate Committee on Labor and Employment advanced Assembly Bill (AB) 5 by Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez along a party line vote of 4-1, with all 4 Democrats supporting. However, both Senator Richard Pan (D-Sacramento) and Senator Jerry Hill (D – San Mateo) spoke to the need to address trucking in AB 5.

Employers in San Bernardino County and Kern County directly affected by the earthquake may request up to a 60-day extension of time from the EDD to file their state payroll reports and/or deposit state payroll taxes without penalty or interest. This extension may be granted under Section 1111.5 of the California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC). A written request for extension must be received within 60 days from the original delinquent date of the payment or return. The Better Street Market open houses on June 1 and June 5 drew hundreds of attendees, providing an opportunity for guests to engage with project team members, preview a variety of potential sidewalk pavers and view proposed plans for the first phase of the project, Market Street between Fifth and Eighth streets. We also highlighted some near-term improvements on track for early 2020, plus commercial loading and transit stops and a design alternative for Market Street between Hayes and Gough streets.
