CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
The legislature reconvened last week from summer recess and Assembly Bill (AB) 5 continues to move through the Senate. A final decision on whether the bill becomes a law will be made by September 13th. If you haven't already contacted your Senator regarding AB 5, it is imperative that they hear from you NOW! Contacting your senator is easy. Simply click on the link below, enter your information, and send your message. If you use owner operators or know owner operators, please forward this message and link to them. It is vital for Senators to hear from their constituents on AB 5, so they can know how the bill will impact the trucking industry and Owner Operators in their district. The HOS Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) has been announced and published in the Federal Register. ATA is reviewing the contents that were included in today’s announcement, and will be soliciting feedback from the industry while they prepare their comments. Timing is critical, the comment period will be open for 45 days, from the date of publication, ATA does not expect the timeline to be extended beyond the 45 days.
