The Canadian Affairs Council of the Water Environment Federation (WEF-CAC) met on October 2nd in Chicago at WEFTEC and signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding amongst its partners. The partners include each of the five WEF Member Associations in Canada (BCWWA, Western Canada Water, WEA Ontario, Réseau Quebec and Atlantic WWC) as well as the CWWA.
Signatories to the renewed MOU for the WEF Canadian Affairs Council. Jeff Halliday (WCW), Robert Haller (CWWA), Jennifer Crosby (BCWWA and Council Chair), Heather Tyrrell (WEAO), Clara Shea (ACWWA) and Yves Comeau (Réseau).
The mission of the Council is "to be a collaborative voice for the Canadian WEF MA’s on water sector issues." Their vision is "to capitalize on, strengthen and optimize the value of WEF for Canadian WEF MA’s." In other words, these representatives ensure Canadian comments get to the WEF leadership and that Canadian WEF members get the most out of WEF. The Council discusses issues of a common or national interest in Canada, provide input to the WEF strategic leaders, ensure Canadian representation on critical WEF committees and support the Stockholm Junior Water Prize within Canada.
CWWA was pleased to have been added as a partner in the last MOU and fully supported this five year renewal. CWWA receives significant financial support from WEF to advocate on behalf of the wastewater sector in Canada and we rely on this Council to provide advice, support and leadership.
