The federal government tabled its fourth federal budget on March 19. With the upcoming election in October, it serves as much as an election platform as a federal budget. It includes numerous programs and incentives aimed at the middle class. Highlights for the water and wastewater industry include:
$3.25 billion to Indigenous Services for water quality, child welfare, education and other supports.
$6 billion for research in health and science
Incentives to encourage businesses to invest in electric and hybrid vehicles
The budget provides an update on the Building Canada Fund and continues its commitment to investing in municipal infrastructure.
