Water Haller: Adieu Adrian!

A genuine pillar of the CWWA has retired.
Adrian Toth, CWWA’s Director of Government Relations, is saying farewell after 24 years with the national association. As his title expresses, Adrian was responsible for creating, maintaining and strengthening CWWA’s relationships with ALL the federal departments, sections, agencies and commissions that deal with our municipal water sector. This seemed to be an easy task for Adrian because he is always such a sincere and likable person. Many of these professional "relationships” became genuine "friendships” over the many years he has been the face of the CWWA to the federal government. |
Within the organization, Adrian worked with a number of our technical committees over the years. Adrian put his passion into the work of the Climate Change Committee and the Emergency Management/Cyber Security Committee. Adrian was instrumental in coordinating several national surveys and research projects in cooperation with various federal departments and academic institutions – most recently the series of surveys on cyber security; leading to the suite of training and products available from Public Safety Canada and the Canada Centre for Cyber Security.
But Adrian’s true baby was the Window on Ottawa. The Window is CWWA’s iconic event that addresses the heart of why we exist as an organization. Adrian would curate this annual event putting key federal policy makers in front of our members, giving us incredible insight into the work of each federal department and agency and allowing members direct access to ask questions. Attending the Window provides members with valuable information on what to expect from the federal government in the coming years. After many years, the Window transitioned from a live event to a webinar format, but only gained in attendance and impact.
These will be big shoes to fill as Adrian is trading in his office shoes for trekking boots and sandals. If you know Adrian at all, you know he is an international man of intrigue. He has always had a great love of travel and seeing the world…and he has the stories (and amazing photos) to share.
While we will miss working with Adrian, we wish him all he best for health and adventure and many, many more relationships that he will build around the world.
Current and former CWWA staff gathered at Adrian’s Farewell Dinner January 18th. Iva Vasileski, Kara Parisien, Ida Tsui, Duncan Ellison, Adrian Toth, and Robert Haller.
From your friends, colleagues, the board of directors and all CWWA members…
THANK YOU ADRIAN!
