Committee to Review Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods

The Federal Minister of Transport, Lisa Raitt, announced on November 18, 2013, the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities will review the Canadian regime regarding the safe transportation of dangerous goods and examine the progress being made on the implementation of safety management systems (SMS) in all modes of transportation and make recommendations on further areas for improvement. The committee will also consult with industry and government stakeholders to get their perspectives and advice on what more should be done to further strengthen Canada’s transportation system.

Water and wastewater utilities receive and may transfer various goods that fall under the Act, so should be aware of the changes.
