The Water Haller – A Change of Government
This caught me by surprise too! As discussions turn to politics from time to time and the possibility of a government change, I have repeatedly said, "don’t hold your breath." I expected, maybe, a Conservative minority. But these Election Results were a surprise for many.Whatever your political opinion, things are going to change.
I have to say I welcomed Mr. Trudeau’s proposal for infrastructure investment and delighted in the discussion and debate that followed. Party leaders said "Water"!!! National leaders discussed the need for infrastructure investment and how best to do it. We wait now with some excitement as to how new funds may be directed toward infrastructure and whether we can get some priority setting that identifies water and wastewater systems.
Whistler, here we come! By the time you read this, the CWWA team will be on its way to Whistler, BC for the inaugural National Water & Wastewater Conference. If you’re not there, you’re going to hear about it and be sorry you weren’t. I am very proud of the program that our volunteer committees have pulled together with staff. Delegates seem to appreciate it too as numbers are jumping way up in our lead up weeks. We are already getting excited about the 2nd NWWC already scheduled for next November in Toronto
