EPA releases potable reuse compendium
The EPA has announced the release of the 2017 Potable Reuse Compendium. This document supplements the 2012 Guidelines for Water Reuse and provides a current look at potable water reuse practices, including direct potable reuse.
The compendium was developed in partnership with CDM Smith and with input from state and industry partners, including the Water Environment Research Foundation, Water Research Foundation, AWWA, Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, and the states of Texas, California and Colorado. The compendium addresses multiple topics, including the extent of potable water reuse in the United States, current treatment technologies and costs of potable water reuse. Additionally, it includes seven U.S. case studies that illustrate indirect and direct potable reuse approaches.
