Health Canada Drinking Water Guideline Consultations
Health Canada has several guidelines out for public consultation. CWWA’s Drinking Water Quality Committee is reviewing these guidelines and will submit comments when there are concerns.
2-4D in Drinking Water - The existing guideline on 2,4-D, developed in 1991, based its maximum acceptable concentration of 0.1 mg/L (100 µg/L) on kidney toxicity in rats. This document proposes to reaffirm the maximum acceptable concentration (MAC) of 0.10 mg/L (100 µg/L) for 2,4-D in drinking water, based on kidney toxicity in rats. Consultation closes November 6.
