The US Army Corps of Engineers is looking for your input on the latest revision of EM 1110-2-1913 – Evaluation, Design and Construction of Levees.
The latest version of Engineer Manual (EM) 1110-2-1913 – Evaluation, Design, and Construction of Levees is available for download and review on our USACE Levee Safety Program Website.
The purpose of this EM is to convey principles and best practices used in the design and construction of new levee systems or the modification or the repair of existing levee systems. This EM primarily addresses levee systems comprised of earthen levee embankments, however, the general principles and practices for evaluation, design, and construction can be used for levee systems with other levee features (such as floodwalls, spillways, hydraulic structures, etc.). A summary of the key updates in the manual are provided in the attached fact sheet.
The manual is open for review by levee owner/operators and professionals outside of USACE that may use the manual to evaluate, design and construct levees.
USACE will be hosting two informational webinars for USACE levee owner/operators that may use the manual to evaluate, design and construct levees on the July 13 at 10 am and 3 pm CST. In addition, USACE will also host a Q&A on the manual update on August 18 at 10 am.
Your feedback is important to help us finalize the manual which is planned for completion at the end of calendar year, December 2022.
