Deadline to submit online nominations is Feb. 28.
Know an engineering student focusing on dams and levees that could use help in funding their education? Point them to USSD's Scholarship Award program, which will award $30,000 for up to four finalists during the 2022 Conference. Deadline to submit application and materials is Feb. 28.
The Board Nomination Committee announces the following candidates for the 2022 Board of Directors. Election will open around Feb. 7 and be open to all USSD members to cast their ballots online.
USSD will host a free member webinar on Feb. 2 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. EST with FERC on the recent updates to its hydropower project safety regulations and changes to part 12.
Members will be able to register in the coming week.
Best Practices in Risk Analysis Workshop
April 18-22, 2022 The primary goal of the workshop is to provide participants with an overview of Reclamation’s risk analysis methodology and its proper role within a RIDM oriented dam safety program. Safety Evaluation of Existing Dams International Technical Seminar and Study Tour
June 6-16, 2022 The seminar is designed for managers, administrators, engineers, and geologists responsible for the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and safety of dams.
USSD Membership
In 2021, USSD introduced a new category of membership called the Academic level bundle. For each paid professor Professional membership, a full-time enrolled student can become a member for free. Industry News & Updates
The Bureau of Reclamation has initiated the first application period for Extraordinary Maintenance (XM) projects that will address aging water and power infrastructure across the West. Newly enacted funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will be applied to the program following the new application period requirements set out in the separate Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.
The National Levee Safety Program, a joint effort between USACE and FEMA, was launched to develop an integrated framework for managing reliable levee systems and improving community resiliency in areas behind all levees throughout the Nation. A series of virtual stakeholder workshops have been scheduled.
