Tyler P. Jones has been named Water national business line executive at WSP USA, a leading engineering, environment and professional services consultancy. Jones will assume his leadership position on Jan. 1, 2023.
In his new role, Jones will direct the development and implementation of WSP’s U.S. growth strategy in drinking water, wastewater and water resources by organizing and positioning the business for success, connecting with clients and prospects, collaborating with partners and peers and building the firm’s brand authority in the market. He will focus on strategic sales, recruitment and developing a team of national practice leaders. Joseph (Joe) Sczurko has been appointed president of Earth & Environment (E&E) at WSP USA, a leading environmental, engineering and professional services consultancy. Sczurko assumed his executive role following the acquisition of the Environment & Infrastructure business ("E&I") of John Wood Group plc (“Wood”), where he served as executive president of Wood’s global consulting business unit.
“Our U.S. E&E business has more than doubled in size with the recent addition of the E&I business, expanding the reach of our team’s expertise, ingenuity and innovation to help a broader mix of clients solve society’s largest environmental and climate-related challenges,” said Lou Cornell, president and CEO of WSP USA. “Joe’s leadership, vision and expertise will be essential to realize our U.S. Strategic Plan and ambition of being the premier environmental consulting firm in the country.” Kleinschmidt Associates, an engineering, regulatory, and environmental consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Jesse Waldrip, P.E., has been named Principal Consultant.
Jesse has been with Kleinschmidt for 20 years and has more than 21 years of engineering experience. His experience has centered around the hydropower industry and includes the coordination and leadership of engineering design projects, feasibility studies, site inspections, and stakeholder consultation, particularly focused on providing effective fish passage at hydroelectric facilities. He has extensive engineering expertise in the conceptual layout, detailed design, construction, inspection, evaluation, and rehabilitation of fish passage and protection facilities. Jesse leads technical teams providing fish passage services related to nature-like fishways, fish elevators, pool-and-weir fishways, vertical slot fishways, baffled-chute fishways, trap and transport facilities, eel passage facilities, intake exclusion structures, and downstream fish passage facilities. Kleinschmidt Associates, an engineering, regulatory, and environmental consulting firm, is proud to announce filing an unprecedented 28 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Final License Applications over the past 12 months.
Applications developed and filed by Kleinschmidt represent 275MW in the generation of just over 600MW of authorized capacity for the entire group of expiring hydropower licenses for which applications were due during this period. This total is approximately 40% of the total projects with final applications due and spans project locations across the United States from Maine to Alabama to Alaska. WSP USA, a leading environment, engineering, and professional services consultancy, is collaborating with Rutgers University on a joint project to develop an engineered oyster reef ecosystem that will help protect coastlines from storm waves and erosion.
“Reefense: A Mosaic Oyster Habitat for Coastal Defense,” being led by Rutgers University, was recently awarded a $12.6 million grant by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The project will support protection of coastal civilian and Department of Defense (DoD) infrastructure and personnel vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. WSP Global Inc. (TSX: WSP) ("WSP" or the "Corporation") is pleased to announce that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of the Environment & Infrastructure business ("E&I") of John Wood Group plc ("Wood"), through a sale and purchase agreement (the "Acquisition"). E&I provides engineering, remediation consulting, environmental permitting, inspection, monitoring, and environmental management services to government, industrial, infrastructure, oil and gas, power, water, and mining clients. E&I’s 6,000 professionals are based in some 100 offices in over ten countries, mainly in the US, Canada, and the UK, with a secondary presence in Latin America and Europe.
