The planning committee is excited to invite Keynote Speaker nominations for the Opening Plenary at the upcoming USSD 2024 Annual Conference. Our conference theme, "The Ripple Effect: Amplifying the Importance of the Dam Industry," will celebrate the important contributions we make to society. We are looking for a keynote speaker capable of delivering an inspiring and thought-provoking address that aligns with our conference theme.

Webinar, Dec. 14, 2023, 10 a.m. MT Early Contractor Involvement in dam and water projects has many facets. Join our presenters for an overview of ECI followed by a discussion of the various motivations for the use of ECI from the owner, engineer and contractor perspectives. The benefits of ECI will be reviewed, as well as the challenges specific to the dam industry. To conclude the webinar the presenters will provide their experience using ECI as it relates to specific projects.

The Corps Water Infrastructure Financing Program is now accepting applications for credit assistance to support non-federal dam safety projects.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) leads the national effort to protect and enhance the resilience of the nation's physical and cyber infrastructure. Visit the Dam Sector webpage to view up-to-date information and resources. With contributions from many distinguished specialists from around the world, Earthquake Engineering for Dams and Reservoirs addresses all topics that will be of interest to students and professionals involved in the inspection or design of dams in seismic areas.
International Water Power & Dam Construction Magazine is looking for contributions of Iconic Dams for their January Issue. They are assembling a pictorial tribute to some of the industry’s projects worthy of such an accolade.
Requirements: 300-500 words giving the name, location, technical description, age and functions of the dam project

ICOLD News
Don't forget that as a member of USSD you have access to all the publications and programs of ICOLD!
There are Regional Clubs designated for each ICOLD zone to facilitate interchange of knowledge and experience between countries with common interests and environments. As such, USSD participates in the International Committees of the Americas (INCA). Currently two USSD members serve as Co-Presidents of INCA – Marty Teal (WEST Consultants) and John Wolfhope (Freese & Nichols). As part of the goals during the tenure USSD is leading the effort to deliver the International Symposium on the Safety of Dams on May 21-23, 2024, in Puerto Rico. This 3-day event will focus on comparing best practices in dam safety and engineering across countries in the western hemisphere. This event will be a combination of technical presentations, site tours, exhibits, networking, and camaraderie. Industry Events
