This webinar will focus on the key policy, people, and process issues involved in the use of risk techniques within an owner’s organization. Discussion will include building the bench of practitioners, in-house guides to consistency, and processes to manage portfolios, investments, and routine programs.
The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has recently updated three seismic-related Engineer Regulations. These policy updates address seismic safety, functionality, operations and maintenance, post-earthquake response and repair, as well as instrumentation aspects of Civil Works (CW) projects including dams and levees.
This course consists of both a virtual (July 10-12) and a Denver, in-person (July 16-18) component. Both components are required for completion and to receive all 36 PDHs.

This course offers a comprehensive review of dam and levee safety risk analysis. It is geared toward engineers, scientists and regulators interested in better understanding, and preparing to participate in, and/or facilitate, dam and levee safety risk assessments.
1/2 Day Virtual Session Sept. 9, 2024
2 Day Denver In-Person Session Sept. 11-12, 2024

This is a basic training course for becoming a facilitator. However, it requires a significant amount of experience in dam safety risk assessments to act as a facilitator. This training along with real SQRA experience can ultimately lead to becoming an effective and qualified risk facilitator. See link below for prerequisites and other information.

Expertise Needed

The USSD Bulletin Editorial Committee is looking for an extra set or two of eagle-eyed volunteers to help proof the quarterly publication. Those who would like to suggest and/or submit articles are also welcome! Contact Tonia@USSDams.org to get involved or for more information.

For an upcoming Dams & Levees issue, USSD is looking for an article that reflects on the state of the art and/or state of the practice for underwater autonomous vehicle use in the dam industry. If you would like to provide one, contact Tonia@USSDams.org
