Associated Builders and Contractors’ TEXO Chapter Members Earn National Awards
Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) today announced that 10 TEXO Chapter member companies received top honors Feb. 11 during the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards celebration at the Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii.
"It’s an honor to be able to recognize these amazing companies for their impressive achievements in key areas of project planning, execution and delivery," said 2014 ABC National Chairman Dan Brodbeck, president and CEO of Compass Partners, LLC. "From making safety a core value for their company, to displaying true diversity leadership, to maintaining a commitment to innovation and quality on each job, these winners represent the best the merit shop has to offer."
National Excellence in Construction Eagle Award Winners
· BakerTriangle – Interiors: Acoustical, Drywall, Millwork, or Plaster – Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas Texas. BakerTriangle relied on ingenuity, BIM and robotic total stations to safely create and install an undulating wire mesh ceiling, metal ribbon wall feature and curved escalator "tube" for a LEED Gold science museum.
· KPost Company – Exteriors – Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas Texas. After providing three years of design input and pricing, KPost proved to be invaluable onsite for its roofing expertise and ability to solve unique waterproofing challenges on this high-profile science museum.

National Diversity Excellence Award Winners
· TDIndustries, Dallas Texas – Subcontractor Over $14 Million
The Excellence in Construction awards program honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer and projects are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. This year's panel of judges included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Association of Women in Construction, and representatives from higher education, among others.
The 2013 National Safety Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold status in ABC's Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) and were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable rates, leading indicator use, process and program innovations and video interviews conducted by members of ABC’s National Environment, Health & Safety Committee.
The winners of the 2013 National Diversity Excellence Awards were judged based on the diversity of the company; a focus on diversity in hiring practices, training and retention; and contractor/vendor relationships, among other criteria.
