Understanding the IgCC
Are your construction projects being affected by the new City of Dallas green requirements? This session focuses on the mandatory items that have been adopted under the 2012 International Green Construction Code. We will focus only on the items that have been adopted and are now required, and what compliance entails - such as mandatory 50% construction waste diversion, mandatory indoor air quality testing, water use reduction, etc. If you don't feel like reading the 150 page code and 30 page addendum on your own, then this session is for you!
Ask the Reviewer Presentation
In this presentation, GBCI LEED Reviewer Michael Kawecki will provide insight into how GBCI works. He will explain how the review process works within GBCI, provide helpful hints and advice for a smooth and successful project review process and discuss the Proven Provider program. Q & A to follow.

Executive Presence is a term that stands for a lot of
things, but we all know what it means. It means that when you step into
the room, people stop and notice. When you speak, people stop to
listen. Acquiring or polishing executive presence is a bit more complicated,
though. It’s a combination of understanding presence, as well as your
substance and your impact. It begins with self-awareness, includes understanding and
building trust, looking at your personal biases, and making
your communication style more intentional, so that it conveys the goal that you
are trying to reach. In these four hours, we will lift your personal presence,
and have an immediate impact on your gravitas, while also giving you take-away
tools to help you work on continuing to grow your presence in the weeks and
months ahead. Speaker:
Lee Jay Berman

It seems every major daily newspaper in Texas is reporting on the many job cuts in our state's oil and gas industry. AGC of America just released "Ready to Hire Again: The 2015 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook." In summary, the 10-page report describes the growing shortage of qualified workers-especially craft workers. That's one of the reasons an industry coalition developed a new statewide workforce development website, www.texasconstructioncareers.com. It is designed to connect laid off workers to meaningful, well-paying jobs in the construction industry. Employers can post positions, check out industry job fairs, and take inventory of all the craft providers in Texas. To learn more about the program and website, click here.
