It seems every major daily newspaper in Texas is reporting on the many job cuts in our state's oil and gas industry. AGC of America just released "Ready to Hire Again: The 2015 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook." In summary, the 10-page report describes the growing shortage of qualified workers-especially craft workers. That's one of the reasons an industry coalition developed a new statewide workforce development website, www.texasconstructioncareers.com. It is designed to connect laid off workers to meaningful, well-paying jobs in the construction industry. Employers can post positions, check out industry job fairs, and take inventory of all the craft providers in Texas. To learn more about the program and website, click here.

May Safety Forums
We will not have our regular Safety Forums for the month of May. We encourage you to join with TEXO members across the area and hold a Safety Stand Down on your project site the week of May 2-6. More information can be found below!
Monday May 2 - Friday May 6, 2016
Your Job Site
TEXO is partnering with OSHA, NIOSH and NORA for our annual Safety Stand Down. TEXO members have set a precedent by participating in a Safety Stand Down, where all work is temporarily stopped on job sites across North and East Texas to show that safety awareness and education is important. We ask you to participate in a National Fall Prevention Safety Stand Down the week of May 2, 2016. Use this opportunity to have an open discussion with your workers about falls and how to prevent them. Click here to register your job site and for information to plan your stand-down.
