The San Antonio City Council approved a deal with the Texas General Land Office that could see up to $450 million invested into redeveloping the plaza around the Alamo, which is the site of the historic Battle of the Alamo and a symbol of the Texas Revolution. According to the city council staff, Texas has allocated $106 million for the project, with San Antonio set to contribute $38 million and the Alamo Endowment more than $200 million. Construction will reportedly be complete by 2024.

During a serious injury situation, the first aid kit becomes the most important toolbox on the jobsite. Even if you have had the finest first aid skills training available, these talents are mostly negated by the lack of emergency medical supplies when most needed. In the event of an emergency medical situation caused by a serious injury accident, proper and prompt treatment can greatly reduce the severity of the injury and possibly prevent the death of a co-worker.

  

Unit 6: Lean Design and Pre-Construction is a half-day, instructor-led course that explains the concepts of value-based management, lean in the design process and relational contracting. The course is divided into three sessions and teaches participants to:  

- Distinguish between the varying definitions for design.
- Define value and commonly used methods to maximize it.
- Discuss waste and commonly used methods to minimize it.
- Differentiate between traditional project methods and lean design.
- Explain the various lean tools used in design and how to deploy them.

  

Unit 7: Problem-solving Principles and Tools is a seven hour, instructor-led course that describes the Lean Problem Solving Process and illustrates how to use tools to solve problems in a lean manner. The course is divided into three sessions and teaches participants to:

- Define the difference between traditional and lean problem solving.
- Describe how to create a team environment to solve problems.
- Explain how to create trust to avoid problems.
- Describe Observation Walks.
- Identify root causes of problems.

This is an instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid for sudden illnesses, injuries and protection from blood-borne pathogens; choking relief and sudden cardiac arrest for adults.  This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.
