Falling from heights is the leading cause of injuries and deaths in the construction industry. Fall Protection requirements are determined by the type of work you’re doing and can include barriers, guardrails, harnesses, belts, lanyards, anchorages and assorted deceleration devices. Let’s look at some of the fall protection guidelines you need to know.
  
Companies that take proactive measures to prevent jobsite safety breaches can their number of incidents by 85%, according to a new Associated Builders and Contractors study.
The ABC 2019 Safety Performance Report is based on data from member contractors that have deployed the association’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP). The goal of this study was to identify the impact that eight leading indicators and other best practices can have on these rates.
  
The Texas DOT has unveiled an $8 billion plan this week that would revamp Interstate 35 through Austin and alleviate traffic congestion through the capital city, according to the Austin American-Statesman. The project would see the addition of two sections of managed lanes in each direction on I-35 — one 12 miles and the other 16 miles. The TxDOT also plans on eliminating an I-35 bridge section through downtown Austin and adding two levels of tunnels, which would include five standard lanes above two managed lanes and frontage roads at ground level.
