WIC Week also provides an occasion to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.

There is no better time for women to consider a career in construction, where workforce shortages are a constant concern and new talent is in demand to rebuild our economy and infrastructure.

Telescopic handlers, or boom forklifts, are useful and versatile machines. Many newer models offer attachments to increase their capabilities; however, they’re involved in many work place injuries and accidents. These injuries and accidents are often due to improper use, or lack of training. The most frequent cause of fatal or serious boom forklift accidents are tip-overs. Other common accidents include being crushed between the forklift and a surface, being struck by the forklift, being struck by material falling off the forks, and running the machine off an edge.
